In my decision to resign from my Second Assistant Management position at Arby's Store #344 in Sidney, Ohio, I felt that it was only appropriate to clarify precisely why this is ultimately my only option. I can not and will not walk away from such a position of responsibility without doing so.
My reasons are simple. In the management team, we try to stress communication, leadership skills, and good, hard work. We stress that for a successful store, we must support each other in our decisions. We stress quality control of money as well as employees. No matter what we stress, what we do is something entirely different.
I work in a management team that apparently, following the the behavior of the primary management person, condones disrespectful, demeaning, insubordinate, and intimidating behavior from an employee to a manager. Where said employee has to be threatened with police intervention before leaving the store's property. Where before consulting her management personnel, the primary management person consults piecemeal evidence and hearsay to make her final judicial decision.
I work in a management team that in the same breath disregards a strong work ethic, agreeable behavior, timeliness, and ability as characteristics of inconsequential value. Where an employee with all of these characteristics, and through no fault of his own, is simply overlooked without regard to or consideration of any individual member of the management team's personal opinion or his own. Where said employee is asked to work every day that the store is open simply because the management team has 'no other option,' yet is not even named on the schedule when an option becomes available. Where said employee is replaced by others without consideration for what the others may or may not be able to accommodate time-wise.
I work in a management team where communication essentially means notes of command or complaint left in a notebook very sporadically, often addressing the wrong individuals, the wrong problem, or overlooking the fact that there may not be a problem at all. These notes cannot be followed up on, as any attempt to discuss them with the primary manager is promptly brushed off and ignored. Where any information important and relevant to the management team as a whole is stuffed in a folder and forgotten or passed down through hearsay, often repeated incorrectly.
I work in a management team where proper training, or anything remotely resembling such, is simply not an option;
Where people are attacked, not problems;
Where, often, the wrong people are attacked;
Where solutions almost universally take a subordinate position to blame.
It has occurred to me that these issues are perhaps irredeemable and most certainly irreconcilable with my own principles as a management person. For this reason, I cannot justify continuation of my employment in Arby's, Store #344, with its current leadership and state.
Thank you for the opportunity, nonetheless.
SOMEONE FIND ME A FUCKING JOB, PRONTO.
(I am fully aware that this is probably riddled with error.)
